Emma Husar is most famously known for her role as a former member of the Australian House Of Representatives for the Division of Lindsay, for the Australian Labor Party (ALP) which she represented from 2016 to 2019. At the peak of her political career she was considered the rising star of the ALP.

In 2018 everything changed when Emma faced unfounded allegations by a former staff member of sexual harassment and bullying. These untested allegations were leaked to the media forcing Emma to launch a high profile defamation case against BuzzFeed which was settled outside of court in her favour. During this period she was forced by the ALP to resign. This was an undeniable painful situation, but for Emma it was an opportunity to turn that pain into grit and purpose.

Today Emma is an advocate for gender equality and an ambassador raising awareness of domestic violence. She is on a mission to empower others, especially women to courageously use their voice to be impassioned advocates for human progress. She believes that the creation of a better future lies in our ability to as individuals and as a collective to be Brave by Design.

“Tough times break many people, others will be forever damaged. Some rare individuals will use them to grow and change, and this is certainly Emma. Emma also has a remarkable gift to teach this skill to others. Life’s hardships are inevitable allowing them to become defining moments is up to us and Emma through insights from her own journey can help build that in you.”

a brave voice today is what ignites a better tomorrow

Bravery doesn't happen by default. It is a muscle that with intention empowers us to be courageous. It is a decision to be stronger, wiser, and more resilient. In a world being redefined by social and geopolitical change people are seeking a new level of truth. This is an age where real human connection, justice and equality are igniting a purpose driven economy. Those who lead from a place of power over others, will be replaced by those who are empowered to lead through integrity. Leaders who are brave by design.

Emma Husar is most famously known for her role as a former member of the Australian House Of Representatives for the Division of Lindsay, for the Australian Labor Party (ALP) which she represented from 2016 to 2019. During this time Emma became a master of courage, yet her ability to be brave by design was always an innate part of her character.

Raised in Western Sydney, Emma was quick to understand that life would never be handed to her on a platter. Growing up she lived with the realities of divorce, addiction and domestic violence in the family home. Moving out at 15 she developed a solid work ethic. Her early experiences also grounded her in compassion, community and a deep care for human-kind.

Emma never planned on entering the world of politics, yet fate would lead her there. From 1998 to 2002 she attended Western Sydney University where she studied a Bachelor Of Education, before becoming a mother to her three children. During this time she also worked four part-time jobs in the retail and service sectors.

In 2013, she joined the Labor Party and by 2015 had become the president of the Penrith Branch. In 2016 she went on to win the seat of Lindsay with a swing of 4.1 per cent. At the time she was considered the rising star of the ALP.

The turning point came in 2018 when Emma faced unfounded allegations by former staff of sexual harassment and bullying. These untested allegations were leaked to the media forcing Emma to launch a high profile defamation case against BuzzFeed which was settled outside of court in her favour. During this period she was forced by the ALP to resign.

Emma is one of the most focused and determined individuals I’ve come across. She’s stoic, organised and funny AF. You want her on your team!”

Today, despite wearing the battle scars of injustice including suffering from a loss of income, and receiving treatment for acute trauma, Emma is rising once again to fight for her name, and the rights of women especially in politics. She is determined to catalyse equality and be a voice for much-needed change.

In May 2021 Emma commenced legal action against the ALP for sexual harassment, as a result of her former staff for making misleading claims that jeopardised her reputation, and her career aspirations as a woman of political influence. This action also reflects her desire to be a voice for all women marginalised in leadership roles. We are living in an age where women should be treated as equals, time and time again there is a bias in power that leads to the dissolution of truth. The time has come for change.

Today Emma is completing a Masters Of Business with the Australian Institute of Management. She is a recruit on season two of SAS Australia 2021, which will premiere on Channel 7, after the Olympics. Her story will also feature on the ABC’s Ms Represented documentary due in June. As a speaker Emma fuses comedy with charisma, sharing a story of courage, resilience and a conviction to the path of justice.
